Your C.V. or Curriculum Vitae is a marketing tool to help you stand out from the competition when applying for Oxford jobs. There are many companies that will offer to write your C.V. for varying levels of cost. This is not essential and good looking, professional results can be achieved with clear thought and a good knowledge of a word processing package. Below we have included some of our tips to help make your C.V. stand out from the crowd when applying for Oxford jobs.

1) Make your C.V. specific to the job that you are applying for. It may be easier and quicker to produce a C.V. that can be used for all your job applications but the results will not be as good. By creating an individual C.V. for each job you can show your prospective employer that you have the specific skills that they are looking for.

2) Use brief stand out points that the employer can easily see and pick up on. Don't spend too long with complicated explanations of previous jobs that detract from your message.

3) Prioritize your message, it may be that you have a lot of different things that you could add to your C.V. but some of it may not fit. Make sure that you leave in the important information that the employer is looking for and don't detract from your C.V. with pointless information.

4) Look after your formatting and presentation, use all the different formatting options available to you to get your message across. Aim for a professional, well spaced out look that demonstrates your attention to detail.
